Featured Photographer – Beth Deschamp

April 17, 2015

Today we have a fun feature on Beth Deschamp, also known as Beth A-Dilly.  Her work is extremely recognizable and awesome we we’re excited to learn a little more about her and see some eye candy!  I also just found out that Beth is now a contributor on Click It Up a Notch.  Congrats!  Now, for the good stuff:

When I first picked up a camera, my goal was to simply document my life, travels, and every other moment in between!  I wanted to have photographs to look back on, as a way of freezing every moment and memory.  I have always had this vision of my future children stumbling across a box of my photographs, carefully looking at each one, and learning a little bit more about me.  Whether they are laughing at my fashion choices or just getting a glimpse of what my every day looked like, I love the idea that photographs can accompany the stories I have about my life.

When my husband took a new job, I was blessed with the opportunity to stay home and, before long, I was picking up my camera more and more every day.  In the beginning I never dreamed of going into business, but six months after purchasing my first DSLR, I decided to be brave and applied for my business license.  To this day, going into business was the best decision I have ever made and it has been a beautiful ride!  I am so thankful every day that I decided to be brave, follow my dream, and created {beth} a-dilly photography!

I love everything about photography.  The way a photograph captures genuine emotion.  The way a photograph can press pause on life.  I love that photographs are something that can be cherished forever and that they hold memories.  These are the things that I think about when I am professionally photographing clients.  And there is nothing better than watching a client react to seeing their collection of photographs for the first time.  It is in those moments of seeing how happy my photographs make others feel that I know I am doing what I was called to do.  It makes all of the endless photo editing marathons totally worth it!

When I am not photographing for clients with my Nikon D610 and Nikon D600, I am passionate about photographing my everyday.  I find myself very inspired to get creative when photographing my everyday and make ordinary tasks like grocery shopping or walking the dog look extraordinary.  I love trying to depict ordinary tasks in fun ways, whether it is through playing with perspective or composition.  I am very inspired to find the beauty in all of the little details that make up everyday life.

In 2014, I completed my very first 365 photography project and it was the best thing I have ever done for my photography.  Throughout the year, I began to notice how much my photography was improving just by picking up my camera every single day to take one picture.  By the end of the year, my photography skills had grown in ways that I never could have imagined.  I was thinking about lines, lighting, composition, and texture in every photo I was taking.  I even made a photo book of all 365 photos after I completed the project and looking back through all of my photographs, it is amazing to see how much I improved in one year.  I found myself inspired, more than ever, to continue photographing every day and to encourage other photographers to join me!

As I was noticing what my 365 photography project was doing for my photography, I became passionate about encouraging other photographers to take this challenge.  While driving home from the grocery store last winter, I had an idea. I had an idea that would encourage other photographers to pick up their cameras every single day for one year.  It was on that day that I created >>the bethadilly challenge<<, a daily photo challenge that inspires photographers to take one photo every single day for one year by using a daily photo prompt.

On January 1, 2015, I launched #thebethadillychallenge on Instagram and Facebook and began a community of encouragement and inspiration for photographers, whether they be professionals or hobbyists!  Everyone is welcome!  Every month I post a list of monthly prompts on my blog, www.bethadilly.com and I have fun using the prompts as well to inspire my own daily photo as I work towards completing my second 365 photography project this year!

When I am not holding my camera, I am typing away on my laptop!  I love to write about photography and share my photography journey with others.  When I first started out, I had no idea what aperture meant or how important white balance was.  I was always reading and learning about photography, which eventually turned into writing and teaching about photography.  I love to help others learn a little bit more about photography as I share my photography journey on my blog!

Beth is my favorite! She has inspired me on so many levels. I am taking part in #thebethadillychallenge on Instagram. She encourages everyone to just take photos of your life. Don’t overthink it. Just do it! She responds and encourages all of us. And her personal photos??? To. Die. For! Beth deserves this honor of being featured on your fabulous website. Congrats, Beth! :-)
