I admit it. I’ve made my fair share of photography purchases….. many good, and many not so good. As 2015 comes to a close, I wanted to share with you my top 4 favorite purchases of the year. In no particular order:
1.) My Sigma fisheye lens
Oh man, do I adore this lens. I primarily use it for my own family, but it’s lots of fun to add a couple of fisheye shots to my client galleries as well. To me a fisheye adds fun, variety, and a sense of whimsy that other lenses just don’t provide. On top of that it’s lightweight, small in size, affordably priced, and sharp!
I somehow managed to lose my Black Rapid strap this year. When it was time to purchase a new one, I just couldn’t justify the price. I had enjoyed it, but I was somehow not too sad that it had mysteriously disappeared. Anyhow, a friend recommended the Indigo Marble Strap. It is the same concept, but at a friendlier price. Once I started using it I also found it to be more comfortable for me too.
This canvas brings me more joy than I can describe. The quality is spot on and it’s a unique product that I haven’t seen anywhere else. This one is displayed in my kitchen and I get compliments on it all the time.
You may have heard about the wonders of frequency separation, but if you haven’t tried the Pure method then be prepared to be wowed. Anytime I have blemishes, shadows across the face, hotspots, or dark under eye circles I immediately take care of them with this set. What I love is that they include videos for you to set the action up all by yourself so that you truly understand the method BUT they also include it all ready to install. It’s easy and incredibly effective.
And since we are on the topic of great purchases, I might as well let Santa know my wishlist for 2016. I’ve been a very good girl this year!
1.) Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
The author of Eat, Pray, Love, Elizabeth Gilbert is also well known for her thoughts on creativity. Her Ted Talk is out of this world and I think I combo laugh/cried when I heard her speak at Clickaway 2014. Her newest book is one I know I will love.
You have already heard me sing the praises of Blogstomp, so I know I will love AlbumStomp too. I’m hoping the purchase of it will inspired me to make more than just the occasional family album that I am making now.
3.) A Macbook Pro
What photographer in this day in age doesn’t have a laptop? This girl. Yep, I do everything on my iMac and as much as I travel it’s time I invested in a portable solution (and get with the 2016 times).
4.) ??? What have been your favorite purchases of 2015? Share with us on the forum or on Facebook!
